BMI Hits 74 Year High In Revenue

NY Times reports that BMI, performing rights society, has hit its 74 year high in revenue, earning “$944 million in revenue for the year that ended in June”,  a 5% gain over the prior fiscal year.

BMI’s biggest clients include Jay Z, Kanye West, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Pink and Adam Levine of the band Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Miranda Lambert, Lady Gaga, Kenny Chesney, Carlos Vives, Jason Derulo, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and A$AP Rocky.

Congrats, BMI, looks as though the traditional power-houses in the music industry are continuing to succeed. We will see how this new Pandora situation works out to see if these performing right societies will continue to increase the revenues they earn on behalf of their members.
