With increased consumer use, it is readily apparent that social media and some of its most dominant platforms (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) hold extremely high commercial value for corporate brands, especially when an individual has a substantial social media following and constant user engagement. With that said, AdAge and D’Marie reveal that pop singer Selena Gomez is social media’s top earning, earning about $550,000 per a social media post.
D’Marie bases its rankings on a variety of factors, including “56 metrics including followers, post frequency, engagement, quality of post, click-thru and potential to create sales conversions from her social content,” per AdAge. The actual figures that her sponsors pay per post is still confidential and subject to negotiations with her representatives; but, the point is that any social media post by her is seen by millions of highly engaged viewers and it’s hard to put an actual value on that.
It is interesting that five of the top earners are also women, including model and Reality TV stars.
