Born in Washington DC, Alvin Akinti is music and marketing professional who started on the streets of D.C., establishing future Maybach Music Group/Warner artist, Wale in the area. After working with Wale, Alvin left D.C. for the bright lights of New York City, where he worked at Sony Music and Murder Inc., learning the ins and outs of the record industry from industry veterans Wayne Williams, Irv Gotti and Chris Lighty.
The experiences at those positions would prove valuable, as he would utilize this knowledge in his new position at Tommy Boy Entertainment as the Head Of Promotion and New Media as well as an acting as the A&R Manager for Tommy Boy acts, including Bob Sinclar, Gucci Mane, Little Louie Vega and Pretty Ricky; while, also learning from industry veteran, Tom Silverman. Being able to wear many hats let Alvin to realize the industry-wide shift from traditional marketing to utilizing brands and integrated marketing techniques to better target a specified audience. This led Alvin to begin working at Cornerstone Agency as a Senior Account Manager. In this role, he was able to utilize his music industry experience and his knowledge of brand and marketing integrations to help launch valuable campaigns, events and specially tailored programs for top tastemaker brands such as Pepsi, Microsoft and Converse.
Today, Alvin uses his vast industry experience to offer solutions and consulting to both emerging and established brands. By providing insight from the culture, Alvin Akinti is a direct pipeline to what emerging culture is talking about and where it is headed. He also acts as curator of Cornerstone’s 1200squad and its exclusive industry mixtape, Cornerstone Mixtape as well as Director of Marketing for PNC Radio and as the host of the weekly show, “Friday Night Cartoons.”
